After enjoying a final visit with the Ingrum family and with Maria Elena and Raul on Monday, we finished packing and had one last thing we needed to do. We walked down to the coast and enjoyed a clear view! This time we walked all the way down the cliff to the beach and enjoyed watching the waves and surfers up close. On our way back up (Brigitte lost count at around 200 stairs) we stopped for a beautiful view of the sunset. Manolo’s churros were a necessity on our way back to the apartment to do the final prep to leave.
Tito, our driver, was early as usual, and got us to the airport the recommended three hours before our flight. The Delta counter, security, and immigration were surprisingly easy, with only the immigration officer needing to go check with his jefe about Brigitte’s documents. He insisted on keeping an original of our Adoption Resolution—that’s why we made extras!
Brigitte was still wide awake and excited when our 767 took off on time at about 12:30am. After dinner Brigitte curled up on her seat and got about five hours of sleep! Immigration in Atlanta went very fast as well, and as the officer stamped her passport she became a US citizen!
Since being home Brigitte has really done well, and plays with Simba whenever she can. She really seems to enjoy learning all the new things of America, and sleeping in her new room. She seems to be understanding more and more English, and we try our best with our Spanish.
