We got our official documents today from the Secretería Nacional de Adopciones matching our family with the child we have been waiting for!!! We are so excited that we have been matched with our kid!! To celebrate and tell Katie and I about the referral, Mom and Dad bought Cookies by Design (as you can see in the picture!). They bought one flower that said “Our Family” and three mittens—each representing a child in our family. The cookies didn’t last long. :)
The Consejo (Peruvian council meeting) was on November 30th, and we found out the results on the 1st of December. To start off another round of paperwork before we can travel, we just sent our letter of acceptance. This is the document that tells the Peruvian government that we would like to adopt the child they matched us with. Because I’m turning 18 before we leave for Peru, there is extra paperwork we have to do, like updating our home study and getting my fingerprints taken in Indianapolis. We hope to travel to get our child in two months! My parents will be there for the whole time. However, Katie and I can’t miss that much school, so we’ll go for part of the time.
We still have a way to go in the process to finalize the adoption. Thanks so much for your prayers, and please continue to pray for us.
