Adoption!!!

The Rummerys are adopting! God placed adoption on our hearts about two years ago as a result of mission trips we took with our church in 2009 and 2010 to an orphanage in Peru. Well, to be honest, Cindy has had this on her heart since I took a trip to an orphanage in Ukraine in 1998, and it has taken me this long to open my heart to adoption! Read More Here

Still Waiting

We have just a quick update in our adoption process.  For some reason the adoption council (consejo) did not meet in September.  This is the meeting where the Secretaria National de Adoptiones decides which children to place with which parents.  Here is what they posted on their website:

“SNA communicates with this notice that due to the resignation of a member of the Adoptions Council and because it is impossible for the other members to attend, the council hasn't been able to carry out the Consejo session for 09/27/2011.”

We also heard that the SNA also might need to put together some more paperwork.  So we continue to wait.  Please continue to pray for this process with us!

End of September Match?

In the Peruvian adoption system, the National Secretary of Adoption (SNA) meets about once a month for an “adoption council.”  During these councils the SNA makes the official decisions matching up approved adoptive parents with available children.  We learned today that the next council meeting is scheduled for September 27, 9am.  We are praying that we will be matched with the child we hope to adopt at that council meeting on September 27.  If we are matched then, it might still be several months before everything is in order for us to be able to travel to pick up our child.

Thanks to all who helped us in our “curb-painting” fundraiser last month!  We earned a lot toward our total adoption goal, yet we still have quite a ways to go. God is good and His provision is evident through this process!

Thanks for your prayers through this long adoption process!
