This past week marked a significant milestone in our adoption process. After almost ten months of work we have finally finished all the necessary documents for our dossier! This includes our home study for the state of Illinois, our medical reports, psychological reports, background checks, adoption class completion certificates, copies of every imaginable document from our life (even college diplomas!), and much more. As we walked through each of the steps of this process since August we continued to pray that God would sovereignly oversee the timing of everything. In some situations we would only see the wisdom if His timing until after the fact, but we continue to trust that He will allow each part of the process in His best time.
Our agency’s representative in Lima, Maria Elena (whom we met when we were there—she and her husband, Raul, are great folks!), received our dossier on Thursday. She will have it translated into Spanish and then take it to the National Secretary of Adoption (SNA) of the Peruvian government. Pray with us that the review by the SNA would occur without them needing more information (which is common). We feel like the items in our dossier are more than detailed enough for the SNA to make a decision to accept us as adoptive parents.
